Author

Antonín Kostka was born on 16th October 1958. He lives in Brumov-Bylnice. He began photography in 1971. Since the early 1980s he has devoted himself systematically to photographing the nature of the northernmost part of the White Carpathians on the Moravian-Slovak border in the area of the Vlárský Pass. In his work he still prefers classic black and white photography. His favorite photographic motifs are sometimes repetitive. He is looking for unusual and extraordinary lighting conditions for their rendering. Often, one shot takes many minutes or even hours in the moonlight and starlight.

He has hosted more than 80 exhibitions and has taken part in dozens of collective exhibitions. His photographs were awarded at many national and international photographic competitions and won a gold medal at the international Biennale of Art Photography STROM Ružomberok. They were published in the books: Fořtovo království, Ze života lovců, Bílé Karpaty, Lovy ve třech světadílech, Od vesna do vesna and others.    They form a variety of social interiors and are represented in private collections in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Israel, Slovakia and the USA.

In 2000 he founded the ANDROMEDA Brumov-Bylnice photo group, which he is the chairman.
